Renovation & Restoration
Costa Rica's climate is hard on buildings. Humidity, heat, salt air, and tropical rainfall accelerate wear in ways that North American homeowners rarely anticipate. A property that looked great at purchase can present very differently two rainy seasons later — I take on renovation, remodel, and restoration work across the Nicoya Peninsula, from full interior transformations to structural repairs.
Timeline
Every renovation is different. I don't give timelines until I've seen the property — a site visit is always the first step.
The "where were you" service
A significant number of clients come to me after a difficult experience with another builder. I hear it often: "I wish I'd found you before I built."
Problem: A roof with problems that weren't just cosmetic, on a property with an aging pool.
What we did: We removed and rebuilt the failing roof sections properly, then stripped the pool back, rebuilt the surface with mesh and concrete, waterproofed it correctly, and retiled.
Result: Not just a prettier pool and roof — a much stronger system underneath, which is what actually matters in this climate.
Why it matters
A surface fix on a roof or pool with an underlying problem just delays the failure. Rebuilding the system underneath, not just the finish, is what lasts through another rainy season.
Problem: During a luxury remodel, we found the electrical system wasn't keeping up with the house — the service was too small for the way the home was actually being used.
What we found: A rusted meter area, signs of overheating, and breaker problems — the kind of thing buyers and owners often don't see until there's a failure.
What we did: Upgraded the service from 100 amp to 200 amp and corrected the weak points, instead of treating it as just an appliance issue.
Why it matters
Undersized electrical service on a high-end home with pools, A/C, kitchens and backup systems isn't a minor issue — it's a safety and reliability problem waiting to surface.
Every renovation is different in scope and complexity. I don't give timelines until I've seen the property — a site visit is always the first step.

Yes. My approach is to diagnose the root cause first, then recommend the most effective solution.
